The True Cost of a Scooter

Whenever you buy a product, the most important question that you need to ask yourself is “Will this product be worth it?” Now you can ask yourself this question for anything – whether you’re buying a house, a shirt, or choosing to treat yourself with your favourite indulgent food.

However we’re here today to talk about scooters. What the true cost of a scooter would be for you, and how buying a quality scooter is worth it in the long run.

So let’s break it down.

On average, our customers have their scooter with them for around 6 years, and travel around 10km a day. Keeping this in mind, if you were to buy a scooter around the $6,000 mark (this could be anything from our luxury Venus model, to the light-weight folding Easy move), then everyday your scooting would be costing you $2.74 ($0.27 per km).

However, it is important to remember inevitable costs that would be factored in, these include servicing, assessments, and the added cost of batteries every 3-4 years. And while these costs may seem ‘pointless’ to some, they help keep your scooter in the best shape it can be so you can benefit for as long as possible.

By ensuring proper care and regular maintenance, many of our customers find that their scooter can then be a part of their lives for up to 12 years! Taking this into consideration, your scooter could be costing you only $1.37 per day!

Therefore, its easy to see that an early investment can pay off in the long run, especially when considering that many cheaper models can only last for a maximum of 2 years before requiring an upgrade or pricey repair.

If the $6,000 price tag is still throwing you off, we can put these numbers into perspective. Let’s take a cup of coffee for example. The average price of a coffee is $3.55 in Australia, and with the Australian Bureau of Statistics highlighting that at least 16.3 million coffees are consumed everyday, an average person may be spending up to $7,775.50 over 6 years just on a coffee!

Here are 5 other products that we spend our money on over 6 years:

  1. Bakery products – $6,240
  2. Holidays – $24,024
  3. Restaurant meals – $13,728
  4. Clothes – $8,580
  5. Groceries – $50,856

So the next time you’re considering buying a coffee or popping into your favourite Italian place, stop to think for a moment about how that money could help you in getting the scooter that gives you your independence back.
